What to Write…

… when you don’t know what to write.

I’m so excited to have faithfully published a blog every Tuesday since the start of the year. And each week I have been hit with the inspiration stick so it’s been fun and relatively easy… until today. I have no idea what to write about. So I asked my husband if I should write about what to write about… and well, you know his answer.

Dog stuck in watering bucketThis does lead to me think about what it feels like to be stuck. Do you ever feel stuck? Not necessarily stuck for words, but stuck in thought, action, inaction, etc. Maybe stalled is a better word. I have been stalled all day. In fact, I didn’t even officially start my day until 6:30 p.m. this evening (that would be Monday evening, emphasis on MONDAY). Do you ever have days like that or am I floating on this cold, stuck, stalled Monday evening iceberg alone?

Assuming we all have moments of stuckness, what do you do to get unstuck? For me, I usually go to bed and hope that when I wake up the next morning I am miraculously unstuck and ready to forge ahead. Or, I eat ice cream, which I did not do even though I really wanted to.

Sometimes what helps me get moving is pure determination – complete mind over matter. Case in point. I didn’t want to miss sending out a blog on Tuesday, so much so, that I am willing to write something that is full of nonsense just so I can say I did it. I like check marks on my to-do list.

My husband keenly pointed out that this is a Seinfeld-esque blog – a blog about NOTHING! Maybe not completely about nothing. Maybe, just maybe, this is exactly what you needed to read today. Maybe you needed to know that Ms. Megan doesn’t have it all together, and in fact, is a just a funny hot mess who loves Jesus and thankfully He loves her in return. And He loves you too!

Stuck or not, we still have worth and value and thankfully His mercies are new EVERY MORNING!

  1. What do you do when you get stuck, whether in word, action or inaction?
  2. What is most important to you? Getting the task done OR getting the task done perfectly?
  3. How does it make you feel when you learn someone is flawed and is willing to talk about their flaws?

Hopefully, I will be full of intriguing content next week, but until then thanks for still reading and being a part of the Discovering Me journey.

  1. I love people willing to share their flaws and since everyone has them it makes our human experience a bit more human! So thank you for keeping it real. When I’m stuck in life (depending on the degree of stuckness) I have found the most helpful things for me is to trust and be grateful. Trusting in Him who has me all the way AND everyone I love and care about is my lifeline. And looking around my life and noticing so many blessings so easily overlooked and choosing gratitude.

    1. Focusing on gratitude and trusting Him is so much better than turning to ice cream! And I will always be willing to share my flaws. Part of my charm, right? I just crack myself up!
